One Year Old

On Christmas Day, this baby turned one year old! We spent the week before sick with the flu, so my dreams of finishing handknit sweaters ended quickly, but I did manage to finish this vest, inspired by my friend Kyce’s super cute baby vest.

Per her instructions, I cast on what seemed like the right amount of stitches, and made it up as I went along.  Nerve-wracking, but it came out just fine, and it does my Mama heart good to see him bundled up.  We were lucky to have my mom here with us for the holidays (sorry for getting you sick, mom!) and she put my sewing machine to work, getting started on a quilt top while she was here.

We were super delighted to get some snow – Ella got to make a jolly snowman.  Snow is one of the best toys ever, I think, and it is so beautiful to see covering the world outside, reflecting the gentle winter light.  Welcome to a new year, friends.

Beautiful photos. The flu seems to be everywhere right now; hope you are all improving.

I took Rt 47 to Northampton today and got a great view of the river – steel blue and with a flock of white birds sitting on the water (gulls?).

Happy new year and new moments,

I remember last year when you posted about Gabriel’s birth. I found that post really moving expecially since I had just found out that I was pregnant with my first. I’m sure that you were part of what gave me the strength to go through with my wish to have a home birth (in a birthing pool too!). I now have a gorgeous son and I’m looking forward to seeing what he’ll look like in one year from now!
    Happy new year!!
